The Splinters of Dusk are run as a strict hierarchy:
  1. Total Eclipse
Morningtide and Eventide leaders. If there's a dispute between the two, the Morningtide leader is considered the superior.
    user group: [eclipsed]
    access to: everything

  2. Obsidian Novae:
The honour-ranked Shards and Splinters. To the rest of the clan, they act as leaders when no Eclipsed gekkonid is at hand.
    user group: [obsidian novae]
    access to: everything

  3. Trusted members:
Regardless of in-character title, these are gekkonids that we trust not to mess around with sensitive information.
    user group: [+morningtide] and [+eventide]
    access to: [s6] on a Tide-specific basis, [s5], and [s3] in full.

  4. Veteran members:
To alleviate the wait for the trusted usergroup (really, we have pretty crazy requirements for them), being considered veteran unlocks a few more boards.
    user group: [:morningtide] and [:eventide]
    access to: [s4]

  5. Clan members:
    Everyone else in the clan.
    user group: [.morningtide] and [.eventide]
    access to: [s3] on a Tide-specific basis, and [s2]

  6. Lucents:
    Initiates.
    user group: [lucent]
    access to: [s1]

Eclipsed word is law - at least in-character. We ask that you respect the hierarchy on out-of-character levels, too, but in practise it's far laxer OOC than it is IC. IC, it has military qualities. If your character's answer to "Douse yourself with holywater" is anything other than "Yes, sir, right away, sir!", you may quite possibly end up flaked. (If your sass is purely IC, chances are we'll have a lot of fun with such a scenario, so please don't feel discouraged from mutiny / comparable plotlines! If all else fails you can get honorary guest title to stick around as a player, at the very least.)

Ignoring the special level 'Lucent' for simplicity, the last two levels have a finer graining still. Each member has a rank that they can advance by completing their power quests and/or by ways of clan rituals and Tide-requirements. Note: Any member of the "Trusted members" will always be hierarchically above any other member of the "Clan members" / "Veteran members" group, even if their rank might suggest otherwise. Also note: You can drop in rank if you act too much like a douche, be that IC or OOC. Razz

Please note: We are very big on OOC communication. You can play your character as a lazy sod with no real motivation to tell the clan anything, or as a lying, scheming bastard (including intending to backstab the gekkonids!), but we expect you to partake in the clan as a player.

If you're not fully-powered yet, you're expected to prioritise getting your powers before much of anything else. The order in which you're expected to go for them (for tactical reasons - we're not that control-freak-ish! Razz ) and with what priority, precisely, will be divulged to you by your Tide-leader when you join.
